Your Role On Our Team
Ovid Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Program Manager to work with cross-functional teams and enable execution of preclinical and clinical stage programs aimed at meaningfully improving the lives of patients and families affected by epilepsies and other brain disorders.  

Reporting to the Sr Director, Program Management, this is an exciting opportunity to partner with all levels in the organization and to have impact on the future of Ovid’s programs.

This position is hybrid and you’ll be expected to work on site at one of Ovid’s facilities in NYC or Boston at least two-three days per week and attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.


On any given day, you'll spend time.... 

  • Responsible for overall operation of both preclinical and clinical stage programs, with a focus on early-stage programs.
  • Work in close partnership with Program Leads and Program Teams to help translate R&D strategy into actionable operational plans, including:
    • Drive execution, track progress against milestones, ensure cross-functional alignment, and help deliver program goals and objectives according to pre-approved timelines.
    • Review and help allocate resources to support operational plans and define critical path activities, interdependencies, and anticipate bottlenecks.
    • Proactively identify and communicate program-related issues, risks, and where applicable, facilitate cross-team discussion on identifying impact and mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with Teams to advance programs and drive development through different phases of research and development, from preclinical to IND submission. Help to establish criteria for key decisions (eg, go/no go criteria and stage-gate decisions) and help coordinate milestone reviews with R&D Leadership Team to enable informed strategic decision making.
  • Effectively engage and participate in cross-functional meetings, including stakeholder management and preparation, leading discussions to drive decision-making, preparing agenda and meeting minutes, creating and updating project trackers/dashboards, and following up on action items.
  • Contribute to Program Management initiatives to support the development and scaling of capabilities, tools, and processes. Drive the identification and implementation of Program Management best practices to ensure operational consistency across programs and continually help the Program Management team increase its efficiency and value.

Your Expertise - minimum requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the sciences and project management
  • Demonstrated project management experience in early drug development
  • Ability to provide program management best practices to drive collaboration, execution, and decision making
Your Background and Experience - preferred qualifications
  • Degree in life or physical sciences
  • BS and 10 years of relevant experience in the biotech or pharma setting
  • MS, PhD, and/or MBA are a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent proficiency is a plus
  • Experience providing oversight to pre-IND and IND submissions, plus
  • Track record of successful program management experience in various stages of development
  • Superior collaboration and negotiation skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle operational challenges as well as provide effective solutions
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to distill highly complex information into key summary points and formulate reports to R&D Leadership team
  • Act with a sense of urgency, able to handle multiple and simultaneous activities, prioritizing as necessary
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools and software (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, and timeline visualization software)


Ovid operates in a hybrid-work model and has offices in NYC, New York and Boston, Massachusetts.  Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the NYC/Boston office in coordination with their manager's expectations, as well as department and business needs. 

Level and title for the role will be dependent on several factors including, but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and performance expectations.

The base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000. The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
